Nightmarish Generic Monsters

Some of the generic monsters (mostly small-sized lizards) use spells against their victims, often paralyzing them and them delivering an inescapable coup de grace.

As with the Vizir from the classic Prince of Persia (above), certain monsters tend to explode the crap outta their victims (often comically), unless their spells are avoided or kill someone instead of the intended target(s).

In certain situations, magic traps are triggered by unsuspecting victims (mostly redshirts), thus making themselves detectable by the player character.

Not surprisingly, the aforementioned lizards are even (far) more dangerous than Lenin himself, with bonus points for the ones who use both magic and psychic powers.

However, such demonic spiders are found later in the Perspective Flip minigames, since they one-shot their victims easier than any other generic monsters in the map.
