Throwing Projectiles of Doom

Arrows and shuriken inflict less damage than ballistic projectiles.

However such weapons are equally lethal, particularly due to their probability of kill (equal to 5x the weapon’s basic damage).
If a thrown shuriken does 8 points of damage, for example, its one-hit kill chance equals 40%. Whether the one-hit kill occurs is determined by comparing a random number (1 to 100) against the threshold value (5x the weapon’s basic damage). If the random number is equal or less than the threshold value, the victim is instantly killed (regardless of Hit Points remaining and everything else).

The inspiration came from Tenchu: Shadow Assassins (above).

Two of Lenin’s bonus costumes double the threshold value, particularly Cardboard Armor and Bloodstained Bandages.

In many games subsequent to the Lizardmageddon, the albino Komodo dragon uses shuriken against most enemies (except for those immune to one-hit kills). Such projectiles have limited use due to their limited number, and only the generic enemies are viable targets (because of the Contractual Boss Immunity).

Different from Lenin, other characters are proficient with composite bows, and their normal arrows do 16 points of damage per hit (thus the one-hit kill chance corresponds to 80%).

If a throwing projectile does 20 points of damage per hit, the probability of kill obviously equals 100%, thus sealing the fate of the victims as intended to do.

Explosive-flavored arrows, such as seen in Rambo 2 (above), are commonly used by Reptilian Troopers and warriors alike.

However, they explode the crap outta the victims via massive damage instead.

Given the core rules about massive damage and one-hit kills, the victims are literally exploded as expected to be (courtesy of the game mechanics as a whole.
